Welcome to fossilhunting.co.uk. Here you will find an account of a recent fossil hunting visit to Charmouth in Dorset. "We had always wanted to try fossil hunting. We were due to spend a week at Waterside Holiday Park, Bowleaze Cove near Weymouth and we were delight to discover that the 'Jurassic cost' was just a stones throw away as we had always wanted to try fossil hunting. I did some research and discovered that Charmouth was said to be a good place to go, I visited the Charmouth Heritage Centre website and was excited to find out that they did guided fossil walks. I phoned to check the times as I knew they only did the walks at low tide. The drive down the B3157 between Weymouth and Bridport was nothing short of spectacular, we marvelled in the beauty all the way! We made good time and arrived early. We found plentiful parking and as we were early we decided to take a stroll down the beach. There were people everywhere!

| We reported to Charmouth Heritage Centre in time for the fossil walk. It started with an informative talk about fossils, we then made our way to the beach along with the guide and started our hunt. The guide was excellent and was available for quite a while to interact with. We all found something, and after some time we decided to call it a day. |

Above is a selection of the fossils we found, some good and some, well you can see! We thoroughly enjoyed our day and would recommend that if you are new to fossil hunting you consider going on a guided fossil walk."
